The Wobbly Bridge
A Botsville Bots read-along picture book.
Botsville U.S.A.! Episode one: The Wobbly Bridge.
Good morning, Botsville!
Hi, friends! I'm Pebbit!
That's our little red car, Pebbit. It needs to get across the lake.
Then let's build a bridge!
First, let's sort the bricks by color!
Red bricks!
Yellow bricks!
And one long blue brick for the top.
Red, yellow, blue... let's build it, me and you!
Two skinny posts in the lake, and gentle ramps on each side!
Ta-da!
Here comes the car! Oh... it's wobbling!
Oh no. Our bridge fell down.
Tall, skinny towers tip over easily.
But if we make the bottom nice and wide, it stays steady.
Ooh! I've got an idea-bulb! Triangles!
Three sides make a triangle!
Wide bases on both sides...
and triangle supports, made of bricks, to hold it up.
It made it across!
Hoo-ray! We did it together!
Can you find a triangle in your house today?
Bye, friends!
Can you remember?
What do the bots build so the little red car can cross the lake?
Which keeps a tower nice and steady?
Which shape keeps its shape and makes things strong?
You did it!
A wide base keeps things steady.
And triangles make things strong!
Keep building, and keep trying.
