The Little Lake
A Botsville Bots read-along picture book.
Botsville U.S.A.! Episode two: The Little Lake.
Good morning, Botsville!
Ooh! What's that big, empty spot?
That's the town garden, Pebbit. Let's build a little lake... a pond for fish!
A pond needs walls all the way around. A square has four sides.
Four blue walls, standing tall!
Brick by brick... the walls are done!
Now let's fill it with water!
Splish, splash!
Ooh! What's that? Water is dripping out!
Uh-oh. Our pond is leaking!
Bricks have tiny gaps, and water can sneak through.
Ooh! I've got an idea-bulb! A pond liner!
A liner is a big, waterproof sheet. It goes inside the walls, so the water can't get out.
No more drips!
Hoo-ray! Our little lake holds water!
Before fish move in, let's learn what fish need.
Fish need clean water.
Green plants help add oxygen... and a little bubbler adds more!
Here come the fish!
Orange, yellow, and blue... five little fish, just for you!
And remember: always stay with a grown-up near water.
Bye, friends!
Can you remember?
Uh-oh! What happens to the brick pond?
What does Widgely put inside the walls so the water can't get out?
How many little fish come to the pond?
You did it!
A liner keeps the water in.
And fish need clean water, air, a little food, and room to swim.
