The Playground
A Botsville Bots read-along picture book.
Episode three: The Playground!
Good morning, friends!
Ooh! What's that? A big, open field!
Today we're building a playground, Pebbit. With a slide, a seesaw, and a swing!
First, the slide. Brick by brick!
A slide is a ramp. A ramp is a slope that goes from high to low.
Here I go! Wheee!
Up the ladder, down the slide... what a happy, zippy ride!
A seesaw is a lever. It's a long board that rocks on a middle point.
Uh-oh! I'm stuck up high!
I'm much heavier than you, Pebbit. So my side goes down.
I've got an idea-bulb! Stack, scoot closer to the middle!
When the heavy friend sits closer to the middle... we balance!
Up I go! Down I go! Whee!
My turn! The swing!
A swing goes back and forth, back and forth. That's called a pendulum.
Playgrounds are for everyone, so we play safely.
We take turns, and wait in line.
Go down the slide feet first, one friend at a time.
And walk around the swings, not in front or behind.
Next time you go to a playground with a grown-up, look for a ramp, a lever, and a pendulum!
Bye, friends!
Can you remember?
A slide is a...
Pebbit is stuck up high on the seesaw. What fixes it?
A swing goes back and forth. What is that called?
You did it!
A slide is a ramp. A seesaw is a lever. And a swing is a pendulum.
And remember to take turns.
