The Giant Skyscraper
A Botsville Bots read-along picture book.
Episode four: The Giant Skyscraper!
Ooh! What's that? The old building is falling down!
That building was very, very old, and empty. Nobody was inside.
Everyone is safe!
Let's clean up together.
Good bricks go in this box. We can use them again!
First, builders dig down deep into the ground.
Then they build the foundation. It's under the ground, and it holds the whole building up.
Next comes the frame!
The frame holds the building up, like the bones inside your body!
A crane! A tall crane lifts heavy parts way up high.
Only grown-up builders use real cranes.
I've got an idea-bulb! In the middle, we build a strong core.
The core holds the elevators and the stairs.
The floors stack up, one on top of another. Let's count them!
Ten floors tall, the tallest of all!
Now the glass windows go on the outside. They're like the building's skin.
Whoa, it's windy! Is our tower wobbling?
Very tall buildings are made to sway a tiny bit in the wind.
Next time you see a tall building with a grown-up, look up and count the floors!
Bye, friends!
Can you remember?
Why did the old building fall down?
The frame holds a building up, like the... inside your body!
How many floors do the bots count?
You did it!
Strong foundation, strong frame. Our skyscraper stands strong!
And remember, real builders always stay safe.
